ABOUT

Heidi Anderson

Heidi is an artist from Seattle, Washington, now based on Vashon Island. She received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2002. She works primarily in illustration and painting, using mediums including gold embossed foil and watercolor, and previously worked extensively in ceramics, including Nerikomi, a technique of inlaying both natural and hand-mixed colored clays to build pattern and narratives that evoke the California landscapes she loves. Across all her mediums, Heidi's work reflects a deep love of nature and draws on mythology and a recurring vocabulary of figures, people, and symbols—leaves, birds, and abstract line work—rooted in folk art and personal symbolism. She has been exhibiting her work since 2000 at home and abroad, including in Brussels, at the Berlin Art Fair, and at Hey There Projects in Joshua Tree, CA.
